Quote:Your like a rick! (Page: 70 /said by firoozeh's father)
Significance:The question I choose to relate to is What challenges do they face upon there arrivals? I think they faced many challenges in this book like for instance firoozeh just couldn't learn how to swim she was a rock. But I think that was not the challenge I think the real challenge was to try and get her father to stop yelling so much and just let her do her own thing.
Personal Connection:I think that I have a personal connection with this because I also had trouble starting off swimming at first. I just couldn't even get to float. But then when I was just doing my own thing as in nobody was there to watch me or help I started to swim because I didn't have have any pressure on me.
Question:Have you ever faced any challenges that were just so impossible to you but not everybody else? If so explain.
Quote #2: During that same year, I was asked to speak about my home land to a seventh grade class at my school. (Page:69/ Said by Firoozeh)
Significance:The question I choose to relate my quote to was how do the characters maintain their cultural ties to their homeland while living in America? I think that this question relates to my quote because to maintain there culture they just simply every once in a while just practice it or do research about it so you can remember it. That is why I think that this question relate to my quote.
Personal Connection:I think I can relate to this because I always try to remember my Mexican culture while still doing and sometimes still even learning the American culture. I do that by usually having a Spanish class or doing something that has to do with my Mexican heritage.
Question:If you have a race or religion do you sometimes think that its too much trouble or hard work to have both cultures? If so why?
