HUH, I'm so tired of having atticus being so old and boring. We never do anything and when he is doing some he is either reading or he's putting on his glasses unlike other menfolk in town go huntin and fishin. But man the only thing that my dad is known for though is shooting, they used to cal him "one-shot Finch". And I believe that they used to call him that because one day jem and i were down by the river and we saw a mad dog comin so we told atticus and the word got around to everybody then the sheriff to atticus to shoot the mad dog and he brought that beast down in one shot, and all I thought was that was some real shootin. I also remember the day that me and Jem were heddin down to the business district of Maycomb and we always have to pass rs.Dubose house and mrs.Dubose always gives us hard time, but Atticus just kept on telling Jem to be a gentlemen. But one day we were strollin by on jems birthday with his pockets full of money to go buy me a baton because I've always dreamed of being in the marching band and we were also going to get jem a train and mrs. dubose just went to far and said atticus is no better than the niggers that he works for. And when she said that she lit the short fuse to jem anger so on the way back jem brabed my new baton and destroyed all of her camelia bushes and broke my baton and hit me, then we just went home. But after atticus got home he was furious at jem and said for him to go apologise to mrs.Dubose and then mrs.Dubose said to repay her jem has to come everyday after school and on Saturday to come read 2 hours for her for a month. Then while me and jem were at mrs.Dubose house I noticed that she has been setting the alarm a lot longer than usual. Then 1 month after the punishment mrs.Dubose died and me and jem learned that she was addicted to morphine. That night mrs.Dubose died jem got a package with a piece of mrs.Dubose Camellia bush. A few days later I received a letter from dill that said that he will not be coming this summer because he found a new dad but he swore that he would some day come back to take me with him and we would get married and have a happy life together. After that me and jem wondered why we don't go to church no more and cal said that she could take us to her church which is called first purchase because that is the first place where they were making free slaves. When we got to Cal's church we hear ed another negro lady that was making a big fuss because we were white children going to a black church and we belong to are own church, then the whole church stood up for us and just said that she has always given everybody a hard time since we were kids so don't worry about her then the Reverend sykes said welcome to us. During g the service I noticed to things that were different that calpernia was talking different and the church doesn't have hymn books and the reason why is because none of them except for a few of them can read because none of them ever got a good education because they were black. Then at the end of the service I asked cal why she talked different and she said its not polite to talk better that other if your the only one that would be able to talk like that . And I disagreed because I felt that everyone should talk how they wanna talk. Then the Reverend wouldn't let any of us go because they wanted to come up with 10 dollars to pay the bail of Tom Robinson so he could get out of jail and live with his wife and children and the church came up with the bail.
